About

Stick wands & pretend magic have gotten

Katia Franz-Garrison

Born in Colorado Springs, CO

Lives & works in Bellingham, WA

While I've taken classes in studio painting,

graphic design, and ceramics, many of

my skills have been discovered and refined

through practice. I believe art lives within

each person and is nourished best through

creative play.

Much of my work reflects my introspective

process related to the environments and

events in my life. As I've opened into an

acute sense of emotion, metacognition,

and the mysterious world of my deeper

psyche, my art has taken on a surreal/

expressionist visual style.

I admire and look up to many artists including:

Frida Kahlo, Leonora Carrington,

Alphonse Mucha, Van Gogh and of course -

my dear friend, teacher, and guardian angel

Charles H. Rockey (1932 - 2019)
